Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Car

April is National Car Care Month! With the weather getting warmer, we have to care for our cars differently than we did during the winter. We’re here to help in this transition from winter to spring. Here’s six easy tips to help you care for your vehicle now that spring has sprung!

Wash and Wax

A good, proper wash and wax is the first and most important thing to do once the weather changes. Driving in the winter results in a lot of road grime, debris and even salt to build up on your car. Once winter ends, you want to make sure you get rid of it all. The paint and finish can get ruined if you allow debris and grime to pile on your car. Salt build up can lead to rust and other serious problems for your car.

Check Alignment and Suspension

Winter is known to be severe on roads, causing your vehicle going through some extreme situations. If you are commonly driving on roads with huge potholes or rocks, it could ruin your car’s alignment or even damage suspension components. If this sounds like you, you’re in luck, because this month we are offering FREE Alignment Checks and $49.95 Alignments! During your visit, we will also give complimentary check engine light scan and tire rotations. Check Your Tire Pressures

Being cautious of the pressure in your tires is very important during the spring. Winter weather can deflate your tires. This is probably why you had to fill up your tires when winter first started. Tire air pressure increases as the outside temperature goes up. If the pressure increases past your manufacturer specification, it can disrupt your car’s ability to drive and fuel economy. This is a very important part of car care, so if you don’t feel comfortable checking your car’s tire pressure by yourself, come bring it to Gray-Daniels Nissan Brandon. We would be glad to help!

Check Under the Hood

Properly check under your hood to make sure the engine of your car went through the winter without a problem. Low temperatures can affect belts and hoses, so check them to be sure they didn’t get stiff or get worn out. An important factor to stop your car from overheating as temperatures are going up is to check your coolant and make sure that it’s not too old. If you aren’t comfortable doing this on your own, come to Gray-Daniels Nissan Brandon! Each one of our Nissan certified technicians have been specially trained to our own high standards. We currently have a Spring A/C Performance Check Special, where we are offering inspections for Freon leaks, drive belt condition, compressor head pressures and in car vent temperatures for $59.95. Clean the Inside

It’s difficult to make the effort to clean out your car when it’s cold outside, so now that spring is here, it’s the perfect time to clean that interior. Make some time one day do some spring cleaning. Remove and throw away all the paper, trash and random items that has gathered over the weeks of months. Not only will you have a clean and roomier car, but your spring cleaning can be done under better weather conditions, particularly necessary if you have to vacuum your carpets and seats.

Check Your Wiper Blades

Inspect your wiper blades for any cracking or wear and tear. The wipers can wear out a lot over the winter due to ice buildup or other cold temperature related issues on your windshield. You’ll need those wipers for rainy days in the spring, so make sure they’re working fine now that winter is over.
