When should I replace my tires?
Most tires come with indicator bars (or wear bars) embedded between the tread ribs at 2/32". The purpose of these indicator bars is to help monitor tread depth. If suspect your tires may need replacing soon, just look to see if the tread is flush with the indicator bars. If they are, then it's time to replace your tires.Another way to check the tread on your tires is the Penny Test. Simply place a penny head first (upside down) between two ribs on your tire. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, your tires are becoming too worn and need replacing. If a portion of Lincoln's head is covered, you should have more than 2/32" of tread left and probably don't need new tires just yet. Make sure to check multiple areas of tread around the tire to check for uneven wear.
If you're still not sure if your tires require need replacing, stop by Gray-Daniels Nissan Brandon and we'll be happy to take a look. We'll also check your tires as part of our complimentary multi-point inspection any time you come in for service. If you need new tires, we'll help you pick the perfect set for your vehicle.
